Blue screen upon start up

Hi, I have a new (2020) MacBook Air on Catalina v 10.15.6. Noticed when I start up I get a blue rectangular screen on the right of the screen. It goes away as soon as I have the sign in screen. Any thoughts on why this is happening on a new laptop please? Thanks.

Hello applealias11!

From your post we can see you are having some trouble with a blue square appearing on your display while signing into your user account. Let's try isolating and getting that behavior resolved. To start, boot into safe mode and see if the you still see that box appear: How to use safe mode on your Mac That will let us know if the issue is related to any user settings or if it is potentially hardware related. After that if the issue doesn't continue, try doing a NVRAM reset: Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac

Take care!

applealias11,

Thanks for following up with us on this here! If the issue is still continuing after the previous steps it may be hardware related. Try reinstalling the macOS software to be sure: How to reinstall macOS from macOS Recovery

If that box still appears after that then you will want to reach out to our main support lines for more support: Get Support

We hope that helps! Have a good rest of your day.

Hi i-rina,

Thank you for your message!

I have restarted in safe mode. How would I know what's causing the problem though? When I restarted it in safe mode, the blue square was still appearing. Then, I logged ink. I did notice the QuickTime icon on the bottom of my screen along with all my other apps that I normally use. Does that mean it's the problem?

I sure hope it's not a hardware issue, as I bought his laptop new from Apple in April this year! :(

I'll wait to hear from you.

Thank you!

Hello again, QuickTime Player shows the following error. I have no idea what this .mov file is or how to find it to delete it.. Could it be causing the blue square?

I have now restarted the MacBook Air as normal and the blue square is still there. It doesn't stop me from using the laptop, I just thought this shouldn't be normal for a new laptop by Apple.
