5 th Generation iPad screen won’t rotate
Running IOS 13.6.1 on my 5th Gen iPad. Worked fine yesterday, as of today the screen won’t rotate to horizontal, it will only stay vertical. The screen lock is off. Any one have a suggestion?

Try a forced restart and see if that fixes it. Hold down on the sleep button and the home button at the same time until you see the Apple logo on the screen. Let go of the buttons and let the iPad boot up.

Couple of thoughts and forgive me for asking.
Are you sure that the screen rotation lock is off? Swipe down from the upper right part of the screen to get to the control center and make sure that the lock icon is white, not red.
Is this happening in all apps? Some apps don’t allow for screen rotation. iPhone apps on an iPad will not rotate.
If the forced restart didn’t work, the lock is off, and it happens in all apps, you could try resetting all settings. No data is lost when you do this, but you will have to re-enter all of your preferred device settings again, including WIFi network passwords. So if you don’t know the password to your own home network, don’t reset settings until you find out what the password is.
If you want to try, go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset all Settings. Do NOT select erase all content and settings as that will totally erase your iPad.
Thank you! I'll try the reset........or wait a day and see if it goes back to being "normal" tomorrow.
Sorry, forgot to mention that I tried that also. It didn't work.
Well, that answers the question about the lock. Sometimes just waiting it out is all that it takes. Good luck, I hope it all works out for you.
