Cannot hear when I make call or receive call

I cannot hear anything on my iPhone 8 plus. When I make a call, it goes through but I cannot hear and the other party cannot hear me. When I receive a call, I can answer it and it seems like we are connected but again, cannot hear anything. My husband is having the same problem with his phone all of the sudden too. Both phones are iPhone 8 plus.
