Deleting MeMoji on Apple ID

I created a MeMoji when I first got my iPhone 8. It saved to my Apple ID, and my contacts were given the option of adding the Memoji image as my contact photo. I have since tried to delete that Memoji, and I have changed my Apple ID photo (to a real photo instead of the emoji), but the original memoji image is still the one being offered to my contacts. This is embarrassing to me, since I am in business, and a silly cartoon that doesn't even look like me is coming up whenever I exchange contact numbers with another iPhone user. Can anyone help?

That's ok :) now that I know what you are looking for, I know where to direct you. You are referring to Share Name and Photo related to Messages. Head over to SETTINGS > MESSAGES > SHARE NAME AND PHOTO, you will be able to adjust your displayed Messages avatar there. Hope this helps.

Animoji and Memoji are only created on FaceID compatible devices and then synced to others via iCloud through a shared Apple ID. You can't create a Memoji on an iPhone 8, it was created on another device and synced via iCloud, you won't be able to manage it on that device.

The photo I had uploaded to be my contact photo appears there, not my avatar, yet my contacts continue to receive my old avatar as my contact image. I will just turn off the Share Name and Photo setting for now, which I’m ok with. Thank you!

Maybe I am using the wrong terminology, but when I purchased my iPhone 8, I created an emoji on that phone that continues to be sent to my new contacts as my contact image, even though I have tried to delete that emoji and add a real picture of me. I didn't create it on a different device, I created it on my iPhone. I did not use FaceID to create it.

I have an iPhone 8, so I do not have Animoji. These instructions are for a later model of iPhone.
