Wake screen
My wake screen is on when my wrist is down and goes black when I raise it towards my face. I. Have tried changing the settings from left to right and back again but still not working.

Changed the button-side setting in that same section of Watch settings, too?
If the arm and the button-side settings are correct, un-pair and re-pair the Watch, and then try recalibration, then failing that check with the folks at Apple Support using the link in the upper right.
