How do I pay with a card other than the default card?

I know how to change the default card, but at the time of payment if I want to use one of the three other cards registered to Apple Pay, (but not the default), how do I use the other card? Do I have to change the default card first, or can I select the other card just before I make the payment, and if so how?

Thank you, but that was just what I was trying to avoid. One of my cards, the default card, is on a joint account. The second card is on my personal account, the third and fourth cards are my business accounts. I do not want to change the default order or the default card, I just want to select, if possible, which card to use at the moment of payment. You answer suggests that that is not possible. Am I correct?

Thank you, David

I have since found the answer I wanted and it is: Using a non-default card for a one-time purchase is even easier! When you're at the checkout and your total is given to you, hold your iPhone next to the terminal as you normally would with one difference... DON'T hold your thumb on the Home button! When the terminal makes the connection with your phone, it will see that you haven't authorized it for payment. At that point, it will ask you which card you want to use. Choose the card, then hold your thumb on the Touch ID sensor to authorize payment.
