Messenger is in Chinese writing

Messenger is in Chinese language and I cannot change it. I have tried but cannot get that language off

this is happening only with messenger
deleted and reinstalled from App Store, still no luck
language in iPhone and Facebook is set as English

do we have any fix for this? I can reset my language to English

iPhone 7, iOS 13

Did you go to Settings > Messenger and look to see if their is a Language setting option?

If that is not available, contact the people who made the app.

Your app is set to Japanese, not Chinese, for all that may help you. Try clicking on the second icon (the globe) and see if you can make a language choice on that page. I know nothing about this app, but if you see a setting that is set to "日本語", tap on it and try changing it to "English" or "英語". Good luck.
