Running ethernet and wifi at the same time

I am interested in connecting my MacBook Pro (2017, using Catalina 13) to my ethernet port for teaching. But I also want to run my iPad Pro (3rd generation 11") via wifi to connect to the laptop.

Is this possible? Will the laptop automatically use the ethernet if the wifi is also enabled?

thanks

Yes, both ethernet and Wi-Fi can be active at the same time. For the connection to the internet, your Mac will use the service that's higher in the service order list.

Change the order of the network ports your Mac uses
