Known issues with LaCie Mobile drives?

Anyone out there experiencing repeated issues with the LaCie mobile drives connecting? I've gone through 2 in 10 days that initially mounted, etc. but then disappeared. They are not available to mount, unmount, run first aid, erase - nothing. I've reset ports, tried alternative cables. Everything else is connecting just fine. One has already been replaced, and now I have one that I cannot return because I cannot erase it. I've used external drives for years and have never had this level of unreliability. Anyone else experiencing this?

Sorry to hear that. I have a stack of four LaCie Rugged drives on my desk at home right now, and two more in a drawer at work, no issues on them to date. Some are older models, e.g. 500 GB - 1TB FW800/FW400/USB2.0, and some newer, e.g. a pair of 5 TB USB-C drives). I use them mostly as backups (SuperDuper! clones or Time Machine) for 6 Macs in the house (some for multiple macs), running versions of MacOS ranging from Yosemite to Catalina.
