Can't drag and drop bookmarks & bookmark folder in Safari

I use to be able to reorganize my Safari bookmarks by simply dragging them where I wanted, whether it's to a different folder or to a different position within the same folder. In fact, the Safari user's guide states that I should be able to "drag bookmarks and folders to rearrange them"; however, it just won't work for me anymore.

Can anyone help? Thanks!

Hi Lager1,

You may have to click the Bookmarks button before moving each bookmark or folder.

Do you mean that I should work from the bookmarks sidebar? If so, I already attempted to arrange my bookmarks from the sidebar but it didn't work. Regardless, simply closing and reopening Safari did the trick. I can now arrange my bookmarks at will.

Thanks for your help!

Hello SparkleTaco,

We understand you are having trouble arranging bookmarks in Safari. You’re in the right place, we’d be glad to assist in seeking a solution.

You may have to click the Bookmarks button before moving each bookmark or folder. You will know it is ready to move when you see the line below it.

If that does not work, please restart your Mac, and try again:
