No mouse action on fullscreen mode safari (top corners), "Always show toolbar in full screen mode" in grey, can't access to it. Mouse over dock not reacting.

Hello,

I am trying a solution for a bug that I can't find anywhere else.

This happen today for no reason, suddenly my safari in full screen mode is not responding at all when I am putting my mouse on the top of the screen. So I can't access to the toolbar or also the search engine tab.

In the view menu I can't click on "Always show toolbar in full screen mode". It's grey and can't access to it.

And don't know if this is related but it's the same for the dock panel. It's not responding at all at the mouse movements when I am putting it on top of it.

Any ideas will be great :)

First of all, reset SMC and NVRAM.

Then boot into Safe Mode by turning on your Mac holding Command S.

It's a long boot 'cuz macOS does some maintenance under the hood. This solves some problems and it looks like you're having some of those issues that can be solved by it.

In Safe Mode, test if you can do what you need, then restart normally and see if it got any better.

You can also create another admin user and see if problems are there too or not. If it's OK we know you have something wrong with your account. Knowing that, you can just move everything to that new account or make a clean install of macOS.

If it came to normal with the trackpad so macOS and the Mac itself are fine again, then yes, it can be a problem with the mouse specifically. Try another one if you have it.

Thanks Rafael.

So I did the reset of the SMC and NVRAM, and then the boot in Safe Mode.

Right now everything works again like normal with the trackpad.

But with the mouse (it's not an apple mouse, just an usb one) it not react at all.

So right now the problem come from the communication with the mouse I think.
