I’m sick of COVID-19 and do not want this addition to be part of my phone. Can I opt out of the software update?

No. It’s baked into iOS as it is on Android. Remember, Apple and Google co-developed this. What you and the others choose to ignore is the fact that this software does nothing until you voluntarily download and install a contact tracing app. You choose whether this software does anything at all and that’s the truth.

To be clear, this is no longer accurate.

An app is no longer required, but the tracer is not on by default. You must choose to opt-in and there must be support for it wherever you are located.

Thanks for the clarification but the basic fact remains. The user cannot remove the feature as it is baked into iOS 13.7. The paranoia expressed by some is completely uncalled for.

I don’t what this stupid Covid on my iPhone and so I am stuck with it if I am I going to change to android because this should be by choice remove it are I done with Apple I been using apple products for many years and this might be the end for me

You do not need to update your phone if you don’t want to. The COVID-19 is off by default so if can’t do anything until you decide to use it if and when it is available in your area.

You may wish to do a little research regarding your proposed purchase of an Android device.

Guess what, Apple and Google co-developed this API. If you switch to Android you’ll have it too with no option to remove it, just like your Apple device. The only way to avoid it is to get rid of every smartphone you own and try to find a dumb flip phone.
