Apple TV+ is a subscription service where you pay by the month. Also, the content is different -- things available on Apple TV+ are not available to buy in iTunes and vice versa. More information in Apple TV+ - Apple

Thank you for the reply. Just a follow-up and clarification. I’m considering purchasing a TV Series that is available through both Apple TV+ and iTunes. What I’m not clear on is the difference between making the purchase through one or the other. I believe that a purchase made on either one shows up in both your iTunes and Apple TV+ libraries. Correct? So is there a benefit of one over the other if they are available for the same price? I just want to make sure that I’m not overlooking something. Thanks again.

Apple TV+ is a subscription service and is not the same thing as Apple TV. I am not aware of any possible way to purchase anything once you have actually entered Apple TV+.

I suspect you are asking about purchasing in Apple TV rather than Apple TV+.

I subscribe to Apple TV+ and watch movies available there. I haven't purchased a movie in iTunes or in Apple TV; I suspect there is no difference if you purchase in iTunes or Apple TV but I can’t personally attest to that.
