Well, it’s kind of overkill - but it will work with iPad without causing damage.
Providing that the Power Adapter is USB-PD compliant, it can be used with iPad. The iPad will draw only the power it requires - and charge at its maximum supported rate - 18W (i.e., 12V @1.5A).
