Olympus DM-620: transferring voice files to Mac running Mojave

I have used this digital recorder in the past to transfer voice files to my Mac. I'm not sure that I have tried to do this with Mojave. When I connect the recorder to the Mac with the USB cable, it shows up on my Desktop as a connected drive. However, when I connect it now, there is no evidence of a connection, but it will charge through the cable. I have not been able to find any compatibility information. Does anyone know if the DM-620 and Mojave are compatible (or if there is a way to make them talk to each other?) Thanks!

The instruction manual for the DM-620 only states compatibility with OS X from 10.4.11 to 10.6. This product is old enough that even though it supports USB 2.0, it may not be fully compatible with Apple's Mojave USB subsystem. Apple rewrote its USB subsystem in I believe Mountain Lion, with some older USB devices suffering for it. The DM-620 may mount, but access to the devices filesystem and .mp3 files may be denied.

This device was also compatible up to Windows 7 too.
