New MacBook Air only has USB-c/Thunderbolt 3 ports -- that will make the most common non-apple wireless mouse (usually use USB receiver) a challenge.

  1. If you can live with dongle - USC-C --> USB by Apple, or a multi-ports adapter, or other choices, such as this.
  2. By avoiding the dongle - you can find Bluetooth wireless mouse, such as this, or others.

I suggest you get a dock.

If you do not want to use up a usb-c port... You can get an adapter to convert your usb mouse to bluetooth. Keep in mind you need an external power source. One of the answers says get a usb battery pack.
