Why does a brand new 32 GB SanDisk show 12/31/79 as creation date AND upon 2nd insertion, 1.2 GB's used? I have loaded NOTHING on it!

Why does a brand new 32 GB SanDisk show 12/31/79 as creation date AND upon 2nd insertion, 1.2 GB's used? I have loaded NOTHING on it! 1st insertion was offline @ 7:02 pm 9/13/2020. Creation date showed 12/31/79(!); Modified date, 9/13/2020. I ejected and 18 minutes later (after being online for 10 minutes), again disconnected from internet and inserted disk. That's when it changed the modified date also to 12/31/79 w/a time of 7:20 AND indicated 1.2 GB's used. I had not copied ANY files onto the disk. What's causing this? What files could possibly be on it? (None are showing....). Thank you!

Try performing a full format of this USB stick.

Go to Disk Utility, select your USB drive and erase it. If you need to use it with windows, you'll have to make it ExFAT. if not, go for APFS.
