if I remove an old device will my pictures and videos be deleted from that phone?

I have pictures and videos that were saved to an old device, I have my log in info for the old Apple ID login but I can't find the old pics and videos?

iPhone 7 Plus, iOS 12

If you were syncing Photos with iCloud, have you gone to iCloud.com/Photos using a computer browser to see if the photos are there?

If you weren't syncing Photos to iCloud, do you have a backup you can restore from?
