iPhone showing time in status bar instead of carrier information

anyone with a iPhone 11/pro/pro max running iOS 13.6 or 13.7 noticed that sometimes, if you lock the screen then wake the screen again immediately after you lock it, the top left where it should say the carrier actually displays the time like how it does when the screen is unlocked? Keep in mind, this only happens when locking and waking from the home page and with Face ID active.

Hi DanneyT3,

Thanks for getting back to us with the additional details. Do you have access to a computer that you can connect the iPhone to? If so, we'd like to further rule out potential software issues. This can be done by creating a backup of your data, then update the iPhone while in recovery mode following the steps in the resources below. When you update the iPhone in recovery mode, it will attempt to place a new copy of iOS on the iPhone without erasing any data:

  1. How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
  2. If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Take care.

Hello DanneyT3,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities! We understand that you've been experiencing an intermittent issue with your iPhone showing the time in the status bar instead of carrier information if the display is woke immediately after being locked.

To help us get a better idea of what you're experiencing, does the time switch to the carrier information if you don't finish unlocking your display from the point shown in your screen shot? Is there any change if the display is set to Dark Mode versus Light?

Use Dark Mode on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Cheers!

Hi DanneyT3,

Since the iPhone is already up-to-date on iOS 13.7, there's two ways to reinstall the software in case there's any potential bugs that exist in the copy of iOS that's already on your device. The first of which would be to place the iPhone in to recovery mode and update it using the steps in the previously provided resource. While it wouldn't update the iPhone beyond iOS 13.7, it would still reinstall the software. The other option is to restore your iPhone, which will also reinstall the software:

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings

Additionally, iOS 14 is being released on September 16th (iOS 14 - Apple) so you may want to wait on the above steps until you've updated to iOS 14 and tested the behavior:

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Cheers!
