first try Force restart

My first thought when I read this is that you have (inadvertently?) zoomed in on your Lock Screen image.

When you do this, the screen may focus on part of the image (in my case it's usually part of a red ball in the picture), making it hard to see any controls.

Try the odd combination of a three-finger double-tap to zoom back out.

Might not help, but it can't hurt to try, and quicker than a Genius Bar.
