Share photos with Apple TV options disabled?

On macOS Catalina 10.15.6 I set up a Home sharing for sharing photos with Apple TV.

When I click Choose for further settings everything is disabled (see pic below). Does anybody know why?

I restarted to Safe mode. It was possible to set it there. And my Apple TV saw the folder.

Then I restarted to normal mode. It was now possible to set it but Apple TV didn't see any shared content (neither photos nor music and movies). Fortunately, after disableng Media sharing and reenabling it is everything OK now.

Hi there petr287,

Thanks for the post! From your screenshot, it looks like the option under "Choose" are grayed out when you try to enable Home Sharing for photos. Sharing photos is always great, and we're happy to see what assistance we can offer.

It appears the it's defaulting to the Pictures folder in the dropdown rather than the Photos app. Try toggling "Media Sharing" off in System Preferences > Sharing, and then double-check the steps here to Designate a System Photo Library in Photos. Then, click Apple menu () > Restart, and turn "Media Sharing" back on. Does that help?

Let us know.

Cheers.

Hi ryane77,

thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, it did not help.

I tried everything just what you wrote. No change. Then I tried to create new Photo library and repeat the process. Again with the same result. I also tried other combination with disabling/enabling Media Sharing and restarting, but nothing helps.

Do you please have any other suggestions?

Petr
