Imac. Operating system

Cannot reinstal operating system .I was trying to clean my iMac to give away so I deleted hard drive and when went to reinstall I get a OS Cafalina screen and says cannot find hard drive/? I think I deleted the wrong thing and now cannot get back the drive... What can I do????
