No SIM card installed error iPhone X

I have had a strange incident for the first time. I kept my phone on the table where I always keep before sleeping and the next morning it gives me an error no SIM card installed. All possible steps mentioned on website including carrier settings, resetting the phone to factory setup all was done once I took the phone to the service centre they told me it’s a hardware issue. With no physical damage to the device and with no software issue is it possible to have a hardware issue? and secondly, I have been informed that it cannot be repaired. Has anyone ever encountered such an issue? I have most the old Apple devices which still work but does not have the software support but this is the first time for me to see this issue and that too for iPhone X.

Can anyone guide me please.

There may be third party repair shops who might fix it. Apple are rolling out authorized repair shops in US and soon to be in Europe who can use genuine parts. With the age of this phone there is no worry about voiding warranty, but they may not want to touch it again if you did go third party.

Did you try taking out the SIM and rub the contact face with a dry cloth (eg denim) then replace it carefully the right way round?

Can you test it in another phone temporarily to check the SIM?

If you exhausted the above tests the the only other possibility is hardware failure in the phone which could be as simple as corroded contacts. Apple will not repair it as the only things they fix are batteries and screens.

Thanks. I have tried all the options including rubbing the SIM card but still it didn’t work. So I guess you are right now I know the reason why the service center is refusing to repair and asking me to buy a new device. Quite sad though that I took utmost care of the device there is no damage whatsoever and now within 2.5 years the phone needs to be scrapped.

Once again thanks for your help.
