It’s still ‘Estimating space’ and before I Continue will I have a chance to choose specific apps/docs to Download or omit
I chose Catalina for OS but just got the device from Apple-refurbished and hadn’t even checked About this Mac, but it did an s’ware update during the first startup

Thx for the info - actually Migration Assistant did a good job of transferring more than 80% of the stuff from the old to the new MBPro (not much surprise, THX MacOS)
The one BIG issue is still the Quicken app - I've been using it for DECADES and am stuck at Q v '07 because newer versions made TOO MANY EFFING changes in the interface; and from what I've read Q07 doesn't work in MacOS after Hi Sierra (on the old MBPro)
Question now is - the charger for the old (early '11) MBP has died ? Is there a cable that will directly connect the new MBP with the old AND power it up to transfer the few remaining apps that did not transfer and hopefully startup in Hi Sierra and run the Q07 app - or do we spend 80$ for a new charger for an almost 10 year old device
I know that's a lot to expect but ...

We understand from your post that you are unable to chose specific items to transfer when using the Migration Assistant to transfer content from one Mac to another. If you wish to transfer only certain items you may want to quit the Migration Assistant and set up your Mac as new. Then you can create a Time Machine backup of your old Mac and restore only the items you wish using the steps from this article:
