Does the ECG work depending where you bought the watch or where your iCloud account originates.

It doesn't work in Chinese Apple Watches but works in Hong Kong watches, so does it work OK if buy from China and use it in HK with HK iCloud and vice versa?

Will ECG work outside of China? I am an American living in China. I bought my first Apple Watch (Series 6) wanting to use ECG, only to find out it doesn’t work in China. I have a US Apple ID, when I setup the region as US and signed in with US ID the ECG app appeared on my watch. However when I try to use it, it say the app is not supported in this region. I accept the fact that I can’t use the function in China. My question is, will it work outside the country? Can I use ECG with a Chinese bought watch in the US? By the looks of it (app appearing, message wording) I think it should work but I can’t be sure. Anyone experienced this?

How to use ECG function with an Apple Watch in Australia? I read this thread: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/250477258?page=2 And I gathered the following: 1- If you buy an Apple Watch in Australia you will not get the ECG option 2- If you buy an Apple Watch anywhere in the world and register with AppleID in Australia, you will not get the ECG option My questions: 1- If I buy the Apple Watch in Australia and register it with a USA account, will the ECG option work? 2- (assuming question 1 is NO) - If I buy the Apple Watch in America, register it with an American Apple ID and use it in Australia, will the ECG option work? Thanks!

I believe the ECG function works only in the country or region it was bought from:

Looks like the only way to find out is buy one in China and see if it works with EU based iCloud account, if not then just return the watch.
