Can't install IOS 14 today

Question

Can't install IOS 14 today

I downloaded IOS 14 general release today and everything seemed to go fine. The process then Verified the update and quickly switched to "Unable to Install Update. An error occurred installing IOS 14".

I have enough space, have removed and downloaded the update once already and restarted the phone, all to no avail.

FYI - I was previously on the Public beta program for IOS 14 and got to Beta 7 if I remember right, but exited that a week or so ago to ensure I received the general release.

Also, I was able to update my Watch OS today just fine. I was NOT on the public Beta for that one.

And I'm loading this onto a 64gb 6S.

Ideas?

Solved!

What I did differently to get it to update:

Switched to have the update installed automatically at night
Turned OFF the VPN that I'd forgotten about.
Downloaded and started to install the update via WIFI instead of being connected via a lightning cord. I did this manually as, frankly, I'd forgotten my plan to let the update happen automagically, see #1.

I just don't know which aspect I changed made the difference. Hopefully no one else has this problem, but if so, give these a shot.
