Mine is showing all 12 of my original top sites. There's a hidden "show less-show more" button right above the corner of the top right top website icon. You might be hitting that by accident. I had only pinned two websites in the new way, but I didn't think about it slowing down my Safari. I just figured it's because my computer is 7 years old. I unpinned them now. Let's see if it helps! Thanks for mentioning that!
Thank you! That just shows you how to pin websites now. My problem is that the ones I had pinned to the start page before the update have all disappeared. I remember what some of them were, but not all.
Thanks for your reply!
I have the same problem (I've made a similar thread - sorry).
There were pages that I use frequently, but didn't want to go through bookmarks or favourites, so I pinned them. They are apparently lost - I cannot find a way to restore the start page to the previous view with pinned pages. On the top of the article found by sarahfromranchos there's what seems to be the oh-so-very-new and more sophisticated way of showing pinned websites. Much less useful though.
If anyone finds a way to restore the thumbnail view of pinned websites, please share!
Thanks!
What's annoying about the new home page is that it chooses what it seems to think are your more visited websites. It keeps showing me things like my power bill , and my water bill, which I only visit once a month to pay. LOL! Oh well!
Only 6 sometimes 8 of the original 12 "top sites" are showing on the start page of Safari on my computer, whether I use them or not, but the ones I use every day still do not show there. I don't like the new "pinning" method because if I decide to leave Safari open for a while, those pages stay open too, some of which are very busy pages using a lot of bandwidth and other stuff that slow the computer down. One of these days, I will make a suggestion on the Apple Feedback site.
My iMac is 7 years old. I'm still on Catalina 10.15.7, that's the last update they gave me. The Safari I have is 14.0.1. I haven't had an update in a week or so, but I'm pretty sure the start page changed only in the last day or two.
Not sure when it happened, but today I noticed that all my old pinned websites are back on the start page, and I haven't visited half of them recently, so it seems like they fixed the problem. :)
That's nice. What version of Safari you have installed and have upgraded to Big Sur already?
