Time Machine aligned External Hard Drive

Wanted to know if this device works with a MAC Time Machine:

WD - My Book 4TB External USB 3.0 Hard Drive

iMac, OS X 10.11

It works but is not the best choice IMHP. WD bare drives are very good--I run several of the WD Black model here--but the enclosures they use have been troublesome for me. WD use an odd formatting scheme on the pre-installed drives, and the enclosure hardware is sluggish in my experience both on modern Macs and older PowerPC Macs.


All my external drive issues went away when I converted all our Macs' Time Machine drives to these:

Yes, they are more expensive than the stuff designed to go on sale at the office superstores every weekend, but the price issue always fades when I ask myself, "What is my data worth?"
