It's working!. Thx
That worked for me too. I was really getting frustrated. Apple support couldn’t help either. Thanks!
Having the same issue now when updating to 14.1.
Bit frustrating this isn't solved yet.
Although removing / adding passcode isn't that much work, having to remove all Apple Pay cards and reinstall them is very annoying
Agreed ! I have also been getting the same issue for both my iPhone X and iPad Pro through PC iTunes update operation. As I do not wish to reinstall Apple Pay cards after disabling the passcode, I updated to iOS 14 and iOS 14.1 through the Settings/General/Software Update menu on each devices. Note that each devices were first backed up on my PC before updating to the new iOS version. I also hope that Apple will fix this lasting bug.
Turning off your passcode momentarily will solve this problem. But my beef is that Apple should've been out front about this and just notify people that this needs to be done prior to installation of the new iOS. I shouldn't have had to google "iOS error 4000" to find out what the heck was happening. This step wasn't necessary for previous updates. Why the change now?
Maybe they didn’t know. I spoke with several techs at Apple and they couldn’t resolve my issue.
Thank you. It worked like charm.
new iphone XR will not send or receive calls. cannot install update. Error message 4000 shown
how do you disable passcode
Settings / Touch ID & Passcode / Turn Passcode Off
it worked. Thanks. The problem seemed to coincide with IOS Update 14.2. Now OK.
No, it actually coincides with an iTunes for Windows update over a month ago.
Well, the Windows iTunes update 12.10.10.2 that just came in did not solve the issue.
So to me it seems an iOS 14 issue. Have had this error for all iOS 14 updates, including when updating OTA.
MarkW33,
Are you absolutely sure you got "error 4000" (not a different error message) updating your device OTA?
This would be a novelty (for me).
Regards
Giulio
It was not that error code, but the iPhone just didn't want to update by OTA nor iTunes with passcode on.
