I have the same issue. The Siri App Suggestions Widget only suggests native Apple Apps. The Siri Suggestions in Search has the same issue, it even suggests apps that have been deleted (see screenshot). I’m running iOS 14.0.1 on an iPhone X.

I’m having the same issue as you Scottstanger. The iOS feels it can place a (new) app I’ve just installed into the suggested drop-down group (of 8). However, when I remove the newly placed app, suddenly everything is reverted to the default I don’t use... even though I have 8 apps still chosen.

I’ve read both pages and tried to change Siri settings and nothing changes. Siri continues to suggest what (it) thinks I need to use rather than display those I’ve marked as “suggestions while searching/ suggestions on lock screen/ suggestions on home screen”. Some of the apps it shows have even been deleted from my phone.

What can I do to make my selections work??

I'm having this problem now that I'm on ios 14.1 when it worked before. When you say you need to set 8 apps as shortcuts, do you mean set 8 apps with the "Suggest App" option enabled in Siri & Search? I've done that - I have exactly 8 apps enabled and the rest all have that option disabled, but I'm still getting bogus apps in the Siri Suggestions. It even shows apps that I've deleted off my phone altogether.

Hi there. I noticed this when the iOS was updated to 14.2, it probably happened before but I didn’t notice. As it happens, I checked my apps for the settings, because I too did the thing of having only 10 apps (of the 8 shown) set to suggest by Siri. These were toggled off. I was able to fix the issue by toggling everything on again, as default, and now apps other than those in default show up. Bear in mind that I deleted the widget and set it up again.

im not sure whether this is a fix, or rather a work around, but at least I got it to show other than default apps, which is better for now.

Finally, a work around! I had removed some of the default eight; I had disabled "Show App in Search" and "Suggest App" for some of the rest of the eight (I want News). When I re-enabled Show/Suggest for the rest of the eight (those which I still had on my iPhone), the pre-iOS 14 behavior of showing me the most recent/useful App's is back. Trying to restrict Siri Suggestions had backfired. Allowing Siri Suggestions for Apps I don't EVER want suggested is better than not getting ANY but the default eight. Marginally broken is better than completely broken.

That was similar to what I discovered.

However, after much trial and error, I’ve discovered the only thing iOS 14 will allow is an equal number of system apps (i.e. notes, wallet, calendar, news) to show, along with apps you install.

You must have (4) system apps before your apps will remain on the “Siri Suggestion” search... regardless of how many (of yours) are selected.

Just a little frustrating but I have the apps I want, at least (4) of them, showing.

Turning ON all of the Siri options for each app appears to have solved the problem.

You need to set 8 apps as shortcuts otherwise the defaults won’t change.

My Siri Suggestions show these exact same 8 apps as @NTBaker in the same order all the time now, even though I no longer even have the Tips, News, or Shortcuts apps installed on my phone.
