Music playlists in Catalina: album view?

I have a playlist of recently viewed songs imported from another machine. In default (song) view they descend in chronological order (what I want). Is there a way to view this list by Albums, not by songs? ALbum view (Dropdown from View) covers the whole library but not the playlist alone. Tx

Thanks. My problem may be impossible to solve.

I listen to music in the order in which I imported it into Music, using the "Recently Added" icon on the left. That acts like a smart playlist, but it is in fact not a real playlist. (For one, it has no view options, unlike playlists. It does come in album view, however.)

My idea was to recreate that exact order of albums in "Recently Added" on my second machine (which has the same music, but it was all imported at the same time: all fall under "This Week"). And there seems to be no way to do this exactly. I copied the most recent albums from Machine A into a playlist, imported that playlist into Machine B, and when viewed "as a playlist" I can see the albums in the same sequence as Recently Added in Machine A (created via "playlist order"); but they appear as a playlist, not as albums.

If I switch to album view (via Sort by options) I get a completely different look, but not the one I want:

View as Albums does not allow sorting by playlist order. In fact, it just sorts the whole library as Albums by alphabetical order. So I can only have playlists or Albums but not both (ie not an album view of my playlist), which is what "Recently Added" on Machine A shows.

It looks hopeless. But if you know of a way I'd be grateful.

Tx

Good afternoon jinet,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

It sounds like you have imported songs from another computer into your Music library on your Mac. To have the control that you want with these songs, you will need to create a playlist on your Mac and add them to it. The resource below will help you with this:

Take care.
