Unblock Adobe Flash Player

I recently bought a 27" iMac SSD, and I had been playing a few games on it the use Adobe Flash Player. Last night, there was a software update, and now, on both Safari, and Google Chrome, Adobe Flash Player is blocked. I reloaded Adobe Flash Player, and it's still blocked. I then did some searching on line, to try to see how to get it unblocked, and essentially every suggestion was to go into Preferences on Safari, and click on the Websites column, and click on "Plug-ins" on it, to unblock Adobe Flash Player. It turns out that on this iMac, "Plug-ins" is not on that list. I haven't been able to find any listing for Plug-ins on System Preferences, either.

I hope someone else has experienced this, and can give me a solution.

No ideas possible. Safari 14 does not support Adobe Flash, period. As VikingOSX explained Adobe Flash is being retired by Adobe. Websites and developers have had almost two years notice that this was coming. Flash has always been and continues to be the most vulnerable and hacked format on the planet. More people have been compromised by Flash than any other standard. Way back in 2007 Steve Jobs banned Flash from iOS and no iPhone or iPad has ever supported it. Now it’s macOS’s turn. If you still rely on Flash for something you need to contact the website and complain that they have refused to update their site to comply with HTML5, the standard that replaced Flash years ago.

For what its’ worth I removed Flash from my computer almost three years ago now and have had absolutely no issues with websites at all. Many higher level volunteers here removed it year ago too.

Flash is dead and Adobe will bury it at the end of this year.

Why don't you have a backup strategy in place? It's like driving without a seatbelt - you don't need it until there's a crash. There are only two types of drives, those that will crash and those that have crashed. It's so easy to get an large external HDD (2 - 3 times the size of the drive you're backing up) and use Time Machine to start your backups.

Im having the exact same issue since my upgrade this morning. I spent time this morning on the phone wit applecare. I

cleared cache/ deleted all history - no help

create a user test log in - I got the same issue on the new log in

we tried recovery mode and safe mode... - no help there

then lastly we reinstalled the operating system completely- still doesn't work.

tried reinstalling flash as well. no use.

my computer is almost a year old. no other issues. my husbands computer that is older than mine still works but he has not done the system update yet.

can't go back unless you have a back up. I don't. any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you. I sent an email. Hopefully they have other options. I just let my tech work for me. I don’t really keep up on it. But now that I know, I’ll know what to ask. I’ll have my husband not update the software on his computer till I get it figured out. Just curious why AppleCare didn’t know. They had me do all the work to fix it. You’d think they would know. 😁
