iphone rings on multiple apple watches

My wife's iPhone 8 rings on both her Apple Watch and my Apple Watch, at least when we are in relatively close proximity to one another. My Apple Watch also rings when my iPhone 8 rings, but her watch does not.

Thus, when we're within ?50 ft. of each other her phone rings on my Apple Watch, but not the other way around and I have searched everything I can think of to disable this, but have not found a solution. This is not impacting any of our other devices. I just want her phone to stop ringing on my Apple Watch.

Doesn't matter if it didn't cause a problem previously. What you're experiencing now is just the tip of the iceberg.

You need separate accounts.

Well, that might have been a good thought 15 years ago when we first started using apple products, but that bridge is burned. And, this is a new problem having started in just the past few weeks and wasn't a problem for the first 2+ years of having Apple Watches. So, while I think your suggestion would certainly work, it is less than ideal.

Sounds to me like you're sharing an Apple ID.

Don't do that. You each need your own.
