Watch7 issues with workout App

Hi, I updated my apple watch series 4 to watchOS7 last night. Today I used the workout app, but it would not measure my calories, my heart beat and did log the workout with the Fitness app.

Is anyone experiencing the same thing?

Thanks

Sooo - iOS 14.0.1 and WatchOS 7.0.1 did not resolve the issue. However, I noticed a support article from Apple: https://support.apple.com/de-de/HT211865

That actually helped.

For the most part at least: new outdoor workouts are now properly recorded again and battery usage is at the same level as with WatchOS 6.

Previous workouts done before the iOS / WatchOS upgrades still don’t show routes though. I guess I’ll have to stick with that and won’t get back my previous recordings.

That reminds me: why doesn’t Apple add a GPX export in the share sheet for outdoor workouts? As long as they don’t have it, I still need to use 3rd party apps in parallel. So sad! ;-)

On my series 4 LTE watch calories, heart rate, etc. are being recorded fine, BUT the watch used to record the GPS track with biking or walking in watchOS 6. It doesn’t do so in watchOS 7 any more. Only the start point is recorded, no track. Not sure if it’s watch OS 7 or iOS 14, though.

anyone experienced similar things / oddities?

I had the same issue. I downloaded watchOS7 yesterday morning. It recorded my afternoon workout without any problems but today when I was about a half mile into a two mile walk, I noticed that it hadn't recorded any distance, calories or heartrate. I stopped the workout and started a new one to no avail. I powered down the watch and booted it back up again but that didn't help either. My activity rings were completely frozen. I called Apple Support and they suggested unpairing and re-pairing the watch. Once the watch was unpaired, it did not want to re-pair again. We did eventually get it paired again but it took a lot of doing. Very annoying and will likely prevent me from getting all my rings closed today and destroy my winning streak.

So, I figured that it’s probably iOS 14. My wife has upgraded her iPhone to iOS 14, but left the watch at watchOS 6: her activity app also doesn’t show tracks along with walk trainings.

I’ve also checked past trainings (with iOS 13 and watch OS 6) and both phones don’t show past track logs either. Not even start or end point.

I suspect that the data is being recorded anyway but just not displayed. Hoping for a future update that fixes it.
