I'm having some issues that suggest I need to reset Finder Prefs. I believe this resolved similar issues awhile back, but I don't recall exactly.
What settings get lost (returned to default) when Finder Prefs are reset? I prefer to know in advance.
With Adobe Photoshop, many application settings revert to default after prefs reset, and it's possible to make permanent errors as these minor settings are scattered throughout the interface.

In Finder, type cmd-, and see what is listed in the preferences.
Look at your sidebar and see what is listed.
Switch between Views in Finder and see what is selected.
All of that is reset when you delete the Finder preferences.

All of that is reset when you delete the Finder preferences.
You can see many of the items that will change in Finder>Prefs, also Window locations size, sorting.
You can see them all by opening this file in say Text Edit...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist
