Is the Pencil compatible to the ipad mini 2?

I have an ipad mini 2, and was looking at the specs for the Pencil (need it to do designs), and I saw that the 1st gen listed the ipad mini.

I just wanted to know if it's solely for the ipad mini, or all ipad mini line. Silly question, I know, but I want to make sure before I spend the money.

If not, does anyone have a suggestion of a stylus similar to the Pencil I can use? None that have a blunt tip (I cant draw with that design of the tip)
