Welcome, WTRMAC, to Apple Support Communities!

Are you trying to free up disk space on a macOS machine (a MacBook Pro 15”?)?

The so-called “Other” storage category is a “catch all” for anything and everything that doesn’t belong in any of the other named storage categories.

On macOS, it doesn’t seem to include “caches”, since those seem to be “lumped” into the “System” storage category.

However, Trash is considered part of the “Other” storage category, unless your system shows “Trash” as a separate named storage category. (I can’t say I have ever seen a “Trash” category, on any of my systems.)

I hope you have been emptying your Trash folder, as appropriate.

It will not empty itself, unless you select the option to have the system permanently remove Trash items that are over 30 days old.

(On the other hand, my Catalina system has about 40GB in “Other” over and above what I have in Trash.)
