Sending a calendar invite TO a iCloud family share calendar

I know I can't view the iCloud family share calendar from a non-apple device, but can I send it a calendar invite? My wife and I use our work Outlook calendars to inform each other of scheduled events but I would like to forward those to our iCloud family share calendar so they show up on my iOS devices as well. I know that I can send it to my individual calendar and then move that event to the family calendar, but I'm trying to remove that middle step.

iCloud Family Sharing a calendar only takes place with an iCloud calendar.
