imessage messages

so me (kazakshstan) and my friend (italy) both turned on wifi but imessage messages are still not free, what could we do here?

iMessages not received I’m having trouble while using iMessages with my friend abroad. But for the past week, I’m not receiving my friend’s iMessages (I do have storage, cellular data and WiFi). I only receive my friend’s iMessages after I turn my phone off and back on.

Hey rcbrien,

It sounds like you have a question about Wi-Fi being turned on, but messages still not sending as iMessages.

There are a few reasons why a message may not send as iMessage. Learn more here under "If you see a green message bubble": If you can't send or receive messages on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support.

Also make sure that Wi-Fi assist is disabled. With Wi-Fi assist, the iPhone may switch to a cellular network if the Wi-Fi network connection is weak. You can turn off this feature by going to Settings > Cellular or Settings > Mobile Data > Wi-Fi Assist. Here's some more information: About Wi-Fi Assist - Apple Support.
