Apple Watch Series 3 with iOS 12.4

  • I’m planning to buy an Apple Watch and I’d like to buy the Series 3 watch (not cellular). Now I have an iPhone XS Max with iOS 12.4 and I don’t really want to update it (don’t ask why, I just really like this environment and UI...I just don’t want to upgrade it). Before purchasing I was reading a lot about compatibility. On the official Apple site there’s this sentence: “Apple Watch Series 3 requires an iPhone 6s or later with iOS 14 or later.”
  • Is that true? I mean if I buy a new Apple Watch, I won’t be able to use till update my phone? There’s a lot of information about it’s compatible with iOS 12 as well. Now I’m totally lost. Can you help me to make it clear?

If the version of the watch you buy comes with any version of watchOS 6 (or later), you will indeed need at least iOS 13.X (or later) installed on your iPhone.
