Power charging after ios14 update

Has anyone found that their lightning port stopped charging their IPhone 11 Pro after updating to iOS 14?

Has anyone found a solution for this? My solution was a wireless charger. Which, of course worked. There’s nothing wrong with the battery or charging port. It’s a software problem. I’ve updated as much as possible (iPhone 11). And still, nothing.

I swear dude, I love apple, but they’re going straight back to a reiteration of the 90’s. Except this time there’s no Steve Jobs to save them.

Can you explain please how exactly are you not able to charge your phone?

  1. Are you still able to turn your iPhone on or is the battery of your iPhone empty now?
  2. Can you get in the DFU Mode? (DFU-Mode is a recovery mode: Press Volume-Key "up", Volume-Key "down" and then Side-Button "press and hold" for 10 seconds?)
  3. Can iTunes recognize your phone if you plug it with an original data cable to your PC?
  4. What do you see on the display when you connect the charger?

My Answers are:

  1. No. I'm not able to turn it on.
  2. No. I'm not able to get my iPhone in the DFU Mode. https://support.apple.com/library/content/dam/edam/applecare/images/en_US/iOS/ios13-iphone-xs-restore-iphone.jpg
  3. No. ITunes doesn't recognize my iPhone at all.
  4. Only an empty battery symbol. (With the cable and without the cable. See image)

I disassembled my iPhone (I am an engineer).

I checked the voltage level of my battery. It is 3.3 Volts. This voltage level means the battery is just empty. It was discharged to zero. But the iPhone is not able to charge it anymore. I tried a new original battery. And it works.

Summary

So, because of the charging problems after update of the iPhone to new iOS the battery was discharged to zero and the iphone was not able to charge it to an appropriate level.

  1. I want to check my old battery further if it is damaged or not.
  2. I want to check my new battery if it works properly to get this battery to zero and then charge it again to the 100%.

Have the same problem after iOS 14.2 on my NEW NEW NEW iPhone 12.

I charge my phone, work on it, then later the charging does not work no matter how many cables i use.

And it is the cable charging not wireless that they say iOS 14.2 tried to solve.

Only way to work around it is to restart the phone. After that it charges normally.

But wtf ! do i have to restart the phone every time i want to charge it ?

Its not the charger. I have one from amazon. My phone just wont charge, even on the apple charger. The only fix is to turn it off and power it on again a couple of times. My guess is that theres some something in the battery maintenance part of the OS that gets stuck and wont let the phones charge.

Call apple support, demand that your ticket get escalated to a higher level of support. Then tell them to pull the specific logs of your phones.
