When trying to pair apple series 1 watch I am getting the error that “Unable to check for update” not connected to internet. The watch has been factory reset but still getting the same error.

To double-check, which iPhone model are you using? Are you running iOS 14? If not, we recommend that as a first step:

If that doesn't help, you might try a quick restart of both devices together:

If possible, you might also try this from a different Wi-Fi network.

Try uninstalling all profiles if you have any (Settings > General > Profile > Click on each profile > Remove Profile), and reset network settings (Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings).
Thereafter, connect to the internet via WiFi, and pair with your apple watch again. The update should come through successfully. This worked for me after chatting with an Apple Support Specialist over the phone!
