physically moving an imac-any precautions or prep?

Just got an imac and am taking into the store tomorrow for oneonone to teach me how to move digital libraries. Anything I need to do to ensure the move(20 miles in car) wont hurt my new machine? thanks very much.

If you have the original box, that would be the ideal method of transport. Otherwise, I'd say you should just lay it flat, on the screen, in the back seat. Have the stand pointed at either your seat or the passenger seat. So in the event you have to brake suddenly, it should slide into one of the seats, and if there happens to be enough room for it to get upright, it should land on the stand instead of something else.

If you have a pickup, then put it in the foot well of the passenger side on its face.

Then just be sure to either park as close as you can to the store itself, or to at least take regular breaks to let your arms rest. If you have some kind of portable shopping cart or something you could put it in for the car to store trek, even better.

Edit: Just noticed this is under the G4 iMac section. So if that's true, and it's not just miscategorized, forget everything I just said because you'll likely snap the neck on the thing. Set it upright in back. Preferably the passenger side, so you can slide the seat back as far as it'll go or far enough that you pretty well pin the system in place.

If you have a pickup, then I'd suggest finding like an old milk crate or something you can set the system in, and then pad the inside with some kind of material like bubble wrap. The crate gives it a wider base, making it harder to knock over, and the bubble wrap helps make the iMac part of that wider base. Honestly, if you have a pickup, and you can't get someone else to go with and hold the thing, I'd just recommend rescheduling.
