Apple Watch 3 won’t update to OS7. Watch is on charger and near iPhone, connected to internet. Keep getting error message.

I have the same problem.

My iPhone is an iPhone 11 Pro, Running iOS 14.0. Can't be more up-to-date than that:-) I had the iPhone and the watch side-by-side, took care of having a proper WiFi (I actually put them 1m away from my fiber modem) and both were on the charger.

When trying to update the error message says that it does not have enough memory on the Watch. At the moment, I have 2.9GB available (out of 4.7GB capacity), although the software update claims the update size is 948MB. I actually first tried to remove all installed applications (I have re-installed them since, hence the 2.9GB capacity right now), tried to restart both the iPhone and the watch, but no result.

For the time being I have given up, hoping that this is a glitch that will disappear at the next release of either iOS or WatchOS. But it is disappointing.
