That would be correct. Setting the default location would be the same steps from before in the link here: Change where your music files are stored on Mac

Sorry but this doesn’t answer my query. My problem is i have transferred my music to an external drive. Approximately 120gb. For a short time i could access my music on the external drive by clicking on the Music app on my mac. Now I can’t access my music on the external drive. I can see it in Finder and even play individual songs. But cannot access via the Music app as before. I have tried repeatedly to select the Library via holding Option key when clicking Music app. However i am unable to Choose the Library as it appears.

any suggestions would be appreciated

The only thing left to try would be to drag and drop the original music files into the Music app and making sure the default music location is set to your external hard drive.

Thank you, by original music files i assume you mean the files on my external drive? If i drag and drop from the external drive into the Music app how do i set the default music location as my external drive?
