I updated my iPad Pro to iOS 14 yesterday, and since then have noticed a regular flicker (on-off-on) of the screen when watching Netflix (via the app), or using the iPad as my second display for my Mac via sidecar. The flicker does not appear to happen when using the iPad for basic functions such as browsing the internet

Me too! Any video streaming App such as Netflix or BBC iPlayer. Thanks to your message at least I now know it’s not an individual fault with the iPad.
Hopefully the good folks at Apple will send us a software update soon.
I have this issue as well. It happens when watching videos of any sort for me. Confirmed to happen on Netflix, Hulu, and Apple TV apps. Thinking of breaking down and restoring the iPad. Seems to work for most people.
Im having the same problem and I also can’t do a factory reset. My cloud is already full so no back up and I’m in college. I have so much saved from school on my ipad, from assignments to programs.. can’t risk losing any of it. This is ridiculous.
Same problem here. I thought I was the only one having this problem. This is also on ipad os 14.1.. I did get the flicker on Games, apple tv plus and Netflix. I tried to reset the ipad but no go.. What seems to be working is disabling the AUTOBRIGHTNESS and it seems to be working. Still doing some test on gaming and tv plus.
I am also experiencing this issue, however it does not seem to happen whilst watching YouTube. I have also noticed that whilst watching Netflix the screen will go black after about 30 seconds of inactivity (i.e. when I have paused a show); note this is not the Lock Screen. The screen will go completely black, and then after a minute a dimmed image of the pause screen will appear before it end enters the Lock Screen. I can only assume that this is a new energy saving function, but it clearly faulty as it seems to be causing the flickering to occur.
So lowering the brightness did not work. So I did reset the ipad pro and restore backup from icloud. Tested for 6hrs netflix/hulu back and forth so far no more flicker.
And yes when you pause a movie or something after a few min it goes black.
Seems to be a common issue. I decided to give in and reset the iPad to factory settings, and the flickering has stopped. Annoying that I had to resort to that though.
Mine does it with games on the iPad Pro 11 inch and with streaming. Only after iOS 14 was pushed.
I’m having the same issue. I tried turning on subtitles and it stopped. Or at least it seems to have helped so far.
I am having this problem too, and it is very annoying. But a reset to factory is a bit much.
Any other work arounds that people have tried or know about?
I really don’t want to reset to factory either. Can only hope Apple are working on an update. Not much good if we have to reset to factory with every IOS update so not going to start now!

This is happening to me too. Very annoying as it makes watching movies/ tv impossible for me. I don’t consider this issue solved by having to factory reset. Apple please help!
Try disabling auto birghtness. it worked for me.
Same thing happened to me I reset as well.....stopped happening, was annoying that I had to reset though! 🤷🏼♀️
