IOS14 on the 8plus
I downloaded that update and and the home screen looks the same. It says that my phone is up to date

The home screen does look the same except that there is an additional home screen with the App Library after your last home screen (i.e., swipe left). Also you can, if you want to, change the look of the home screen by adding widgets. See: Use widgets on your iPhone and iPod touch - Apple Support
