Bright Sun, Dim Screen

Is anyone else having the problem when viewing an iPhone in bright sun that the screen grows more and more dim. To be sure, I have auto brightness off and screen brightness full bright. Still the screen is almost unreadable. Can’t find any other posts or information that addresses this issue. Very frustrating that the screen is doing the exact opposite of what I need when I need it. Ex. At a ball game and want to video kids etc...

Have completed all steps suggested including upgrading to iOS 14.0.1. However since my most recent occurrence with the dimming problem, the weather/ambient light/temperature scenario has not reoccurred and will need to be duplicated to determine if the suggested steps helped improve the situation. Will report back when I have been able to test my phone.
