iTunes reports that 13.6.1 on my connected iPhone is current, what next?

My iPhone reports that IOS 14 is ready to be installed. Rather than go through the motions to free up 3GB of space on my phone, I followed directions and connected to iTunes on my computer to perform the update. However, iTunes reports that 13.6.1 is current and does not offer the update to 14. What next?

iTunes won't acknowledge iPadOS 16.5.1(c) exists My 5th generation iPad needs to get 16.5.1(c). I have storage constraints (it needs another 2GB which I can't get to without deleting a lot of important things). So I wanted to update through iTunes to get around this, which I've done before. But iTunes incorrectly says "this version of the iPad software (16.5.1) is the current version". It's like iTunes (version 12.12.9.4) doesn't know that the (c) version of 16.5.1 exists. Any suggestions? UPDATE: I just unplugged the iPad from the PC and happened to look at the update section again. It wasn't complaining about lack of space and I was able to do the update. Very strange. But I'd like to understand: does iTunes simply not apply a patch like the (c) update because it's not a full iPadOS update?

What is it downloading??? Upgraded the iPhone Xs to 13.1 yesterday from a Mac Pro 2012, went to hook it to iTunes and it says it needs an update. Started the update and it is showing 20 minutes. Anyone one know what it is downloading? Thanks

Iphone update Hey, I am having problems updating my Iphone 6 plus.... When I go to updates on my iphone it is at ios 12.5.1 and its stating that it is up to date..... so i got a computer, downloaded itunes, logged in to my apple id so how do I update it from here

Update iTunes on your computer and try again

Or try from another computer/mac
