iPadOS Messages acts differently on two iPads with 14

my wife and I both have iPads - (refurbished; circa early 2018) - we both upgraded to iPadOS 14 - Messages is a much-used-app; - HOWEVER, on my wife's iPad she can go to an 'older' message

and press and hold the older message and gets a box that says: (Reply, Delete, More...) - I don't get the 'Reply' on my iPad's messages - I only get the Delete and the More... and the 'More...' does not accomplish anything - just looks at me - Anyone know what is wrong and/or how to fix it? - Bill

Isolated post-update issues are often easily resolved by a forced-restart of the device:

  • On an iPad with a Home button: Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
  • On an iPad with Face ID: Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the top button. When the Apple logo appears, release the button.
